Choosing the Best Credit Card for You
Before starting your personal credit card application, think about how you plan to use your credit card and what could most help you on your financial journey. Credit cards like our Secured Card can help you build your credit if your current credit score is not where you would like it to be. If consolidating a few credit cards into one with a lower interest rate would best help you, look for a card with a competitive rate. You can also choose a card that earns you rewards, like our Rewards card, that gives you credit back on your statement.
Paying Your Credit Card Bill
Once you’ve been approved for your new personal credit card, it’s time to make sure you’re prepared to make payments on time, every time. To do so, you’ll need to have a good understanding of your credit card bill, what the information means, and the way to set up your payments that best fit your lifestyle.
With your Global Credit Union Bank card, there are a few ways you can set up payments. Your monthly bill can be sent to you via mail or electronically – you’ll simply receive an email each month letting you know that your bill is available to view online.
All of our cards can be added to our BillPay within Online Banking, so that you can make automatic payments. This is an especially helpful tool if you have trouble remembering to send in a check each month. You can also pay your credit card bill over the phone by calling us at 800.711.BANK (22265). Please follow the prompts for either consumer/business credit card information, where you will be redirected to make your payment. Just be sure to have your information handy so we can process your request.
Spotting Identity Theft on Your Credit Card
It's no surprise that identity theft is an area of concern for all of us. So what can you do to protect yourself and your personal information? When it comes to your credit cards, keep an eye out for theft by regularly checking your credit card statements and your credit reports for suspicious activity.
According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, fraudsters will often make small transactions on your account and then return to make larger purchases if the small transaction goes unnoticed. Keeping a close eye on your credit card statement can help identify these unauthorized charges. At Global Credit Union Bank, we also have several programs in place to help identify any unusual activity on your credit cards and will contact you to verify transactions.
1 Purchases do not include cash advances, balance transfers, or illegal transactions. The maximum amount of rewards credited to your account per calendar year is $500. The maximum amount of rewards earned per calendar year is $1,000.
2 Balance equal to card limit required to be maintained in the deposit account.
3 Standard message, data and internet service provider rates may apply.
4 First Commonwealth’s credit cards have an EMV® chip that encrypts information to help increase data security for transactions at terminals or ATMs that are chip-enabled.
5 Mastercard® Identity Protection is a free program that requires customers to enroll. Visit globalcreditunionplc.com/creditcards for more information.
