In 1994, David Rankin, who was studying to become an English teacher, responded to a postcard inviting college students to own a summer painting business. Married with two children, David jumped on the opportunity to earn extra income and by 1996, “retired” after one year of teaching and purchased his first three CertaPro Painters franchises. Since then, David has built his franchises into a family business with a family environment and 11 employees.
In the spring of 2020, David was introduced to our SBA team by his attorney, for assistance in a partner buyout. While unsure that SBA financing would work for his situation, David quickly grew confidence that the team at First Commonwealth could not only provide the financing through the SBA, but also do so quickly.

David closed on the SBA acquisition financing within two months, allowing David to focus his time on managing the influx of residential business.
